Faith-Integrated Couples Counselling

Make space for both partners’ values without assuming that they believe, practise or want the same things.

Agree the approach together.

Partners freely agree to participation and the place of faith in sessions. A practitioner should explain confidentiality in joint work and consider whether joint sessions are suitable. Counselling must not pressure someone to remain in an unsafe situation or accept a religious interpretation.

Questions for your professional

  • How are both partners’ preferences heard?
  • Can we choose a different approach if faith becomes unhelpful?
  • How do you consider safety and suitability for joint work?
