Cookies & device privacy

What keeps your session working, what stays only in your tab, and the controls available on your own device.

Version 2026-10-20 · Prepared 20 October 2026

1. The first-party sign-in cookie

Ayema uses ayema_session to maintain a signed-in account session. It contains an opaque session token, not your clinical notes or card details. It is HttpOnly, uses SameSite=Lax and uses Secure on production HTTPS. Its maximum validity is 14 days; logout, revocation or account restrictions can end access sooner.

This cookie is necessary for private dashboards and protected actions. Blocking it prevents sign-in-dependent services. Public guides and the practitioner directory can be browsed without a signed-in session.

2. Advertising and optional tracking

The current Ayema application does not install advertising pixels or optional visitor-analytics cookies. Operational dashboard counts come from platform records, not a visitor-tracking product. No “accept all” banner is used to imply consent to a tracker that is not present.

Any future optional tracking must be described and a valid choice obtained before it is activated where required. Refusing marketing is not a refusal of essential account or payment messages.

3. Payment, video and infrastructure suppliers

Activating checkout or a video service can involve supplier cookies or device/connection information under that provider's notice. Paystack handles the payment interface and Daily handles enabled remote-call delivery. Hosting and security suppliers can also process technical requests to deliver and protect the service.

These suppliers are not all loaded on every public page. Follow the service's notice and your browser's controls for its own storage. See the privacy notice's supplier section for the configured delivery services.

4. Workbooks, assessments and saved copies

Workbook entries and self-assessment answers stay in the current tab's memory. Ayema does not use localStorage or a cookie to save those answers. Reloading clears the current entries. Use the page's reset/clear controls when finished; browser history may restore a previous page. A completed download or printed copy is separate and remains on your device.

Signed-in course progress and care preparation are different features: saving them sends them to the relevant protected account workflow. Read the label and privacy information before choosing to save or share.

5. Your browser and device controls

You can review or remove cookies through your browser settings, sign out, clear browser-managed downloads and manage camera/microphone permissions for the site. Clearing browser cookies alone does not delete your Ayema account or server-side records.

Use a trusted device and sign out on shared computers. For account-data requests use privacy settings or the contact details below. Browser and supplier settings may vary; this page does not change them automatically.
